From June 15-17, 2021, the DGUV hosted the annual conference of the European Forum for Accident Insurance under the motto "The future is now: Advancing Accident Insurance in Europe." The virtual event was the highlight of DGUV's 2-year presidency of the European Forum of the Insurance against Accidents at Work and Occupational Diseases, which was extended due to Corona.
In his opening speech, Federal Minister of Labor Hubertus Heil emphasized "occupational safety and health is not a nice to have, but a cornerstone of our social market economy" and stressed the important role of accident insurance in promoting infection control in the pandemic.
Alexey Polikashin, interim chairperson of the Social Insurance Fund of the Russian Federation, receives the "Berlin Agenda" as president of the European Forum Accident Insurance 2022.

Over the three days of the conference, the 160 participants from 24 countries exchanged views on current developments and topics relating to the future of accident insurance, including sessions on "Agenda 2050: The future starts now", "Digitalization: Tackling the challenge", and "Occupational diseases: Developments and perspectives". The conference was livened up by a social event on the evening of June 16, during which DGUV employees gave the international guests impressions of the host city through personal stories under the motto "Berlin Stories".
The results of the event were recorded on virtual pin boards and can be viewed on the conference website (https://www.europeanforum2021.eu) under the category "Documentation". The working topics identified by the members of the European Forum and other stakeholders were forwarded at the end of the conference, together with the documentation in form of the "Berlin Agenda", to the next presidency of the European Forum on Accident Insurance, the Social Insurance Fund of the Russian Federation. The Forum's President Dr Edlyn Höller concluded the conference by saying "The coronavirus pandemic has been a very challenging time for all of us. However, it has also shown us where our strengths lie: in the networks that connect us and that have proven their resilience.”
