At the beginning of November 2021, a delegation from the Turkish Social Security Institution SGK visited Germany to learn about the benefits of reintegration measures in the workplace after an occupational accident. With the support of BG ETEM, a 3-day programme was organised by the DGUV, during which the process of rehabilitation management in the German Social Accident Insurance system was outlined, as well as the training opportunities for rehabilitation managers at the DGUV University for Applied Sciences in Hennef. Furthermore, the delegation was able to gain an insight into practice during a discussion with a rehabilitation manager from BG ETEM and experience the interaction of medical, occupational and social rehabilitation measures during a tour of the BG Accident Clinic Ludwigshafen. The programme was completed by an insight into the activities of the Institute for Occupational Safety and Health of the German Social Accident Insurance (IFA) including a tour through selected laboratories as well as the new building of the chemical and biological analytics, where highly sensitive measurement procedures are carried out. With their impressions from the study visit, the three delegation members want to examine to what extent elements from the rehabilitation process based on the German model can be adopted in their own system to enable the insured to return to work quickly.
